Shoulder Arthroscopy

Shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery done at our center as a daycare procedure where patients get discharged the same day.

Shoulder arthroscopy helps to diagnose and treat various shoulder problems. It is useful in cases where all other medical and nonoperative treatments fail to provide relief. Here surgeon put inside the shoulder joint, a small miniature camera, which is attached to a big screen. Arthroscopy helps the surgeon to see and treat various shoulder pathologies. At our center, different pathologies of shoulder joint are repaired using specialized instruments and advanced implants.

Diagnostic Arthroscopy

Diagnostic shoulder arthroscopy is a procedure used to precisely diagnose shoulder pathology. It helps shoulder specialists better diagnose and treat intractable chronic shoulder problems. At My Ortho Centre, this procedure is performed at a nominal cost with the best outcome.

Arthroscopy Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator cuff tear is the most common pathology of the shoulder joint leading to long-standing pain and disability. Rotator cuff tear can occur due to injury, overuse-related wear and tear, or age.

Rotator cuff repair is required if,

There is a full-thickness large rotator cuff tear.

If symptoms do not respond to long medical treatment.

If there is residual weakness or loss of shoulder function

Acute traumatic tears with loss of function.

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures done at My Ortho Centre. Our success in performing these procedures with the best results lies in many factors.

Firstly, we provide comprehensive care from surgical preparation to postoperative rehabilitation at a low cost.

Secondly, we utilize advanced technologies in performing these surgeries.

Thirdly our surgeons are highly skilled and trained in treating any complex rotator cuff injury.

A tiny arthroscopic camera and specialized instruments get inserted through the small incisions, inside the shoulder joint. With the help of internationally approved suture anchors and suture material, torn cuff tissue is stitched back to its bone bed.

Arthroscopic Labral/ Bankart’s Repair

The shoulder joint is formed by joining the upper part of the arm bone known as head of the humerus and glenoid cavity, which is part of the shoulder blade. The labrum is a soft tissue ridge around the glenoid cavity present inside the shoulder joint. It provides stability to the shoulder joint and prevents shoulder dislocation. Bankart’s injury is one of the common types of labral injury, where part of labrum gets detached from its bony bed i.e. the glenoid cavity.  In any sports injury or accident, if the labral tissue gets damaged, the shoulder joint pops out of the glenoid cavity.

Using minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, the arthroscopic surgeon stitches back the torn labral tissue back to its bone bed utilizing small anchor sutures. Thus preventing future episodes of shoulder dislocation and enabling the sportsperson to return back to his sports activities.

Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression

Arthroscopic subacromian decompression is a procedure performed in patients suffering from subacromian impingement. Subacromian impingement is a condition where the patient feels shoulder pain on lifting the arm. This happens due to swelling or inflammation of tissue in the sub-acromian region. This procedure is indicated in cases that do not respond to long medical treatment and physiotherapy.

In this procedure, the surgeon puts inside the shoulder, a small camera and specialized radiofrequency ablation probes and shaves off the inflamed tissue and bony spurs or growth.

Arthroscopic AC Joint Debridement

This procedure is indicated in cases of acromio-clavicular arthritis not responding to conservative treatment. Here arthroscopic surgeon removes all the diseased fibrous and bony tissue causing pain and disability in shoulder movement. Postoperatively this procedure relieves pain and disability, and the patient regains pain-free movements.

Other commonly done procedures are:

• Arthroscopic Distal Clavicle Resection.

• Arthroscopic release of Suprascapular Nerve Entrapment.

• Arthroscopic release of Scar Tissue/ Contractures.

• Arthroscopic Synovectomy.

• Arthroscopic Biceps Tenotomy/ Tenodesis.
